Psychology of riding

What are we offering?

One of our key aims is that that the online training provided by the Western Rider Development Programme addresses both technical and psychological aspects of rider performance.  Once again the matter of geography need not get in the way, because in this section of the website you'll have a fantastic opportunity to learn from highly qualified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) professionals who understand, and are actively involved in, our sport.  How cool is that?  In the next 12 months we'll be inviting guest contributors to provide articles/case studies and take part in a kind of "ask the expert" web-based Q&A relevant to themes or issues that have emerged from riders registered on the WRDP. They may be issues relating to confidence, motivation, focus, goal setting.... whatever. We'll be doing the same on the technical aspects of riding too!

So how does NLP fit in to the WRDP?

I guess that by now some of you are wondering.... "What the heck is NLP, and what's it got to do with my western riding?"

Well, you may have already noticed that one of our core team, Judy Jones, is a Certified Practitioner of NLP specialising in Equestrian Sport (click here to find out more).  Judy is currently working towards her Master Practitioner qualification.  Her trainer is Christine Dawson at Quest for Success Ltd, and we're delighted that Christine has kindly agreed to write the foreword to this section of the website. It sets the scene on everything that will follow over the coming months and years, and explains the importance of taking control of, and responsibility for, our own thinking and our life's goals.
